Carmel Marathon Returns with Indiana Vein Specialists Cheer Zone at Midtown
The Carmel Marathon Weekend celebrates a return to in-person participation for its 11th anniversary event on Saturday, April 3, and race organizers continue to add experiences to celebrate every runner. In partnership with Indiana Vein Specialists, organizers unveiled the new official cheer zone location at Midtown Plaza as the new and best location to see all 3,000 participants pass by.
The Indiana Vein Specialists Cheer Zone at Midtown will feature music on the Midtown stage and a live stream of the finish line on the big screen so spectators can not only watch their loved ones run by, but also see them at the exact moment they cross the finish line. The Midtown Plaza sits on the east side of the Monon Trail, north of Elm Street, connecting the Carmel Arts and Design District to Carmel City Center. With music and nearby retailers like Fork & Ale and Java House ready for the fun, the Indiana Vein Specialists Cheer Zone at Midtown will be a central location for spectators and the place to be watch the race.
New Spectator Experience to Cheer and Watch Runners on the Big Screen
“We wanted to add something special for 2021,” said Todd Oliver, race director for the Carmel Marathon Weekend. “After visiting larger marathons around the U.S., we found that live-streaming the finish line is rare. Thanks to the help of the City of Carmel, we’re able to bring the finish line to the big screen at the Indiana Vein Specialists Cheer Zone at Midtown so friends and family can come out to cheer on our participants.”
“The team at Indiana Vein Specialists is honored to be a charter sponsor of the Carmel Marathon Weekend and to continue our support of this premier marathon event that showcases our beautiful city,” said Dr. Jeff Schoonover, owner and chief medical officer at Indiana Vein Specialists. “Despite the challenges our community has faced over the past twelve months, the Cheer Zone is a perfect opportunity for family and friends to celebrate their runners.”
Nearly 3,000 people are expected to participate in one of this year’s Carmel Marathon Weekend races, with runners and walkers traveling to Carmel from 40 states. More than 500 volunteers from 50 charitable groups help bring the event to life. To add to the excitement of this year’s event, the Carmel Marathon has been selected as the 2021 Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Central Region Marathon Championship race. The Carmel Marathon is just one of four RRCA Regional Championships taking place in 2021.
