World Lymphedema Day

Posted: March 6, 2020 | Revised: March 6, 2020

March 6th is World Lymphedema Day! We want to help educate the world and spread awareness for the lymphatic diseases.

What is Lymphedema?

Lymphedema is a chronic lymphatic disease that causes swelling in part of the body. It can be hereditary or develop after surgery, infection, radiation, or other physical trauma.

Chronic swelling and a feeling of heaviness may be the first sign of the disease.

Lymphedema Treatment

There is currently no cure for lymphedema, but the gold standard for treatment is Complete Decongestive Therapy. It involves exercise, skin care, compression therapy, and manual drainage.
