Jeffery P. Schoonover, MD

Dr. Jeff Schoonover, Diplomate, American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine, is committed to varicose vein disease treatment. In 2008, Dr. Jeff Schoonover was one of the first physicians in the nation to be certified by the American Board of Phlebology. As a venous and lymphatic medicine specialist, he is dedicated to treating varicose vein disease and related disorders. Dr. Schoonover, together with his team at Indiana Vein Specialists®, is committed to minimally invasive treatment while caring for all patients with respect and compassion.

Prior to launching Indiana Vein Specialists®, Dr. Schoonover practiced vein disease treatment at one of the largest vein clinics in the nation. Earlier in his career, he practiced family medicine in Yorktown, Indiana and is board certified in Family Practice. He also served as a physician for four years in the United States Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Major.

Dr. Schoonover was published in The Journal of Family Practice in October 2009 with his article, “3 Alternatives to Standard Varicose Vein Treatment.”

He resides in Hamilton County with his wife and two sons. They are an active family and you can often find them on the lacrosse fields, out for a walk or biking together. The Schoonover family is committed to the area and they enjoy being a locally owned and operated business in the greater Indianapolis area. Dr. Schoonover is at one of his offices every day and personally manages each one of his patient’s treatment plans.

Ryan Pilkey, FNP-BC

Ryan Pilkey is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. A native of Canada, he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and his masters of science in nursing from the University of Memphis. He has five years of experience in arterial and venous disease. Ryan moved to Indianapolis in 2007 and lives in Fishers with his wife, Tonya, and their children, Brooke & Jake, and two Golden Retrievers. When he is not working Ryan enjoys hockey, snow skiing, hiking and traveling. He enjoys seeing the improvement in the quality of life of our patients and likes the opportunity to build relationships with patients.

Samantha Black, R.N., B.S.N

Samantha has worked in health care for 13 years in the hospital and private practice setting and has been an R.N. since 2007.   Sam enjoys the opportunity to see patients through their entire experience at Indiana Vein Specialists®.  As a nurse sclerotherapist, she has been trained in the treatment of surface/spider veins. In her spare time, she enjoys knitting, sewing, travel, scuba diving and spending time with family. She lives in Indy and has a 6-year-old Yorkie named Baxter.

Nathan Watson, RVT

Nathan Watson, RVT

Nathan Watson is a vascular sonographer and RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) who has joined the Indiana Vein Specialists® team to perform ultrasound exams to diagnose venous insufficiency, and to guide sclerotherapy and endovenous laser ablations. He graduated from the CAAHEP accredited sonography program at JCTC in Louisville, Ky. From 2002 until 2006 Nathan was enlisted as a Cavalry Scout in the U.S. Army with tours in Kosovo and Iraq. Nathan enjoys rock climbing, snowboarding, and camping, and has recently moved to Fishers, Indiana with his wife and daughter.

Dona Rice, RN, RVT

Dona has been a registered nurse (RN) for over 30 years and has registries in vascular (RVT) and adult cardiac (RDCS) sonography for over 20 years. She has experience in ICCU, cardiac rehab, internal medicine, and cardiology offices. Dona and her husband have recently moved from Seymour to Carmel and enjoys the  access of walking and biking on the Monon. Other passions are time with family, traveling, and reading.

Whitney Thompson (Hood), RVT

Whitney is a Registered Vascular Technologist. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Imaging Sciences from the University of Southern Indiana. Prior to joining Indiana Vein Specialists, Whitney practiced in the hospital setting for eight years. She has also been an adjunct instructor of ultrasound at the University of Southern Indiana. Whitney and her husband Derek are the parents of a pit bull puppy named Leo. They enjoy hanging out with family and friends, attending Colts games and going to summer concerts at Klipsch Music Center.

Jamie Miller, B.S. RT(R), RVT

Jamie Miller, B.S. RT(R), RVT is a registered vascular technologist with three years of experience in a hospital setting, including vein mapping for coronary artery bypass surgery. She has an associate of science degree from Ball State University and a bachelor’s degree from IUPUI in medical imaging technology. Jamie lives in Noblesville with her husband, Michael, and their 2-year-old Goldendoodle, Zoey. In her spare time she likes to spend time with family and friends and enjoys playing with Zoey.

Allison Miller, RMA

Allison Miller joined Indiana Vein Specialists as a Registered Medical Assistant, working in both the Fishers and Carmel offices. She is a graduate of the Ross Medical Education Center. Allison previously worked as a Medical Assistant in an orthopedics and sports medicine medical practice. She enjoys the interaction with patients that she has at Indiana Vein Specialists. Alli lives in Carmel and enjoys biking, going to the lake with her boyfriend, boating with her family and reading fiction. She has a female cat named Riley that she adopted after Riley showed up in Alli’s garage, sick from drinking antifreeze. That’s a lucky cat!

Natalie Gilman

Natalie Gilman joined the Indiana Vein Specialists® team as practice administrator. She has a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Purdue University and 8 years’ experience in Management and Marketing. Natalie lives in Indianapolis and enjoys reading, spending time with friends and family, and exercising.

Melissa Mumaw

Melissa worked in the healthcare administration field for nearly 20 years before joining Indiana Vein Specialists® as our Schedule Coordinator.  She enjoys offering care to our patients that requires minimal to no downtime. Melissa also feels our patients are very well-informed about their treatments because the Indiana Vein Specialists® team is so upfront about patient care and education. She and her husband, Ron, live in Noblesville, and have two daughters ages 20 and 24. Their family includes Oakley, a three-year-old red Siberian Husky. In her leisure time, Melissa enjoys running, biking, hiking and walking Oakley.

Christie Thieman

Christie graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with an Associate of Science degree in Business. She has worked in a hospital setting for five years. Christie appreciates the atmosphere among the staff at Indiana Vein Specialists and the way Dr. Schoonover communicates with both staff and patients.  She and her husband, Chris, who live in Noblesville, have two sons – Kyle is 21 and Jacob is a junior in high school. The family includes two dogs, a Lab-Beagle mix and a Chocolate Lab. In their leisure time, the family goes to IU football, basketball and baseball games.  When she can fit it in her schedule, Christie enjoys walking.

Diana Clauson joined the Indiana Vein Specialists® team as scheduling coordinator. She has a business degree from Sacramento State University and 16 plus years’ experience in Sales and Marketing. Diana lives in Noblesville with her husband Tim.  Diana enjoys exercising, soccer, playing with her adorable grandson, and spending time with her pets.

Kahla Grace, Clinical Liaison

Kahla Grace, Clinical Liaison, joined Indiana Vein Specialists after more than ten years in the pharmaceutical industry. She has a Bachelors degree in Finance & Marketing from Indiana University. Her role as Clinical Liaison is to educate primary and specialty physicians and their staff regarding the various treatment options available for venous disease. Kahla is a Fishers resident. She and her husband have a daughter and twin sons. During her spare time Kahla enjoys rooting for IU, playing tennis, and supporting her children’s sports activities.
